Dominant Aryna Sabalenka Claims Consecutive WTA Top Player Awards.
World number one Aryna Sabalenka has been voted the Women's Tennis Association top performer of the year for a second consecutive season.
The 27-year-old secured four titles – the highest tally on the circuit – which included retaining the US Open in September versus Amanda Anisimova to secure her fourth Grand Slam singles championship.
A Season of High Performance
Over the course of the tour, Sabalenka competed in a circuit-leading nine championship matches, with defeats coming to Madison Keys in the Australian Open final in January and Coco Gauff in the French Open final.
The star player also won the Brisbane International in January, the Miami Open in March, and the Madrid Open as the clay season progressed. She spent the whole season as the world number one, finishing 2025 atop the rankings for a second straight year.
In July, she achieved the status of being the first athlete to exceed 12,000 WTA ranking points since Serena Williams did so nearly a decade ago.
Historic Achievements
Sabalenka concluded the season with a sixty-three to twelve win-loss record, and picked up a historic eleven million pounds in prize money.
She received almost 80% of the votes submitted by international tennis media.
Later this month, she is poised to compete against 2022 Wimbledon runner-up Nick Kyrgios in a high-profile mixed-gender exhibition match in a bid to "elevate women's tennis to a higher level".
Other WTA Award Recipients
- Returning Star of the Year: Switzerland's Belinda Bencic, 28, was voted after taking a 13-month break after the birth of her first child and returning to the sport at the start of this year.
- Fresh Face of the Year: Canadian teenager Victoria Mboko picked up the award after beginning the season positioned beyond the world's top 300 and soaring to world number 18.
- Partnership of the Year: Katerina Siniakova and Taylor Townsend were selected after capturing their second Grand Slam title as a pair.
- Biggest Leap of the Year: Amanda Anisimova received the accolade after making five finals.
Last week, Carlos Alcaraz secured three awards in the Association of Tennis Professionals (ATP) Awards, which included the season-ending top rank award, while Jannik Sinner was voted fans' favourite for a third time.
